Chen ZhengLei

GrandMaster Chen ZhengLei:

October 23-24, 2010 - Washington D.C.
October 25, 2010 - Annapolis (Arnold) MD

THIS IS A MUST-ATTEND WORKSHOP for anyone who seeks higher levels of the art.

Workshop Topics:

1. Oct 23 Sat 9:00 AM to 12:00 Taiji Qigong
In this Module, Master Chen will teach a qi-nourishing routine to help you center your body and calm your mind. The Qigong exercise will strengthen your constitution to guard against chronic ailments, and thus deliver tremendous health benefits. More importantly, it will build the qi-foundation in your martial arts training.

2. Oct 23 Sat 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Cultivating the Strength of Rou (Soft) Jin
The idea of the soft-training methodology of Taijiquan practice is to develop neijin (internal strength). In Module 2, Master Chen will lead the class through movements from the Old Frame First Routine (Laojia Yilu), “taking apart the postures (cai jiazi)” to show details of the form movements. This will help you cultivate rou (soft) jin in your practice, and greatly enrich your experience of the art.

3. Oct 24 Sun 9:00 AM to 12:00 Cultivating the Strength of Gang (Hard) Jin
The purpose of developing rou (soft) jin, is to be able to bring out the power and strength of internal energy, expressed as “gang (hard) jin.” That is to say, the methodology of Taijiquan does not just train rou (soft) jin, but both the soft and the hard jin. In Module 3, Master Chen will take the class through some movements of the Old Frame Second Routine (Laojia Erlu), which puts more emphasis on expressing the gang (hard) jin. It will complement your soft training of rou jin, and give you insight into the duality of jin.

4. Oct 24 Sun 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Applications and Jin
In Module 4, Master Chen will show the kungfu techniques of Taijiquan. The practitioners will see that for the techniques to be effective, the jin used in the application must be sufficient in both the rou (soft) and gang (hard), that is, lacking in neither. This will give you a practical understanding of the duality of jin.

18 Posture (Essence) Form
Monday, October 25, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The 18 form takes the essential movements of LaoJia YiLu and removes much of the repetition to create a short form that retains the essence of YiLu without requiring as much time to learn or to perform. This is an ideal form for beginners who want to gain the benefits of practicing YiLu in a shorter amount of time. The experienced practitioner will gain the benefits of being able to refine movements directly applicable to YiLu as well as learning a useful form to teach to beginners or to practice when time constraints don't allow you to practice the full form. Learn this form from the person who created it!

The Monday workshop will be at:
