Born in 1946, he began his training at 7 with his father and his uncles Zhaokui and Zhaopi.

He is known for his explosive fajin and his powerful qinna. He is a carpenter by trade and a noted calligrapher and author.

Insight of Training in the Form
Saturday, August 28, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
(lunch break from approximately noon to 2:00 pm)

Form practice is the most essential part of Taijiquan training, no matter one's level, advanced or beginning, as it is the path to xia gongfu (to reach the high levels of kungfu). The quest of the miao (ingenious) skills of neijin is through the body comprehension of jin. Seek this insight with Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang as he take you through the practice of the Old Frame Routine One (Laojia Yilu).

The Workshop will deepen your knowledge of the internal dynamics of qi and jin in the form practice, and thus build the core internal strength (gongli) the right way.

Applications and Fajin Practice
Sunday, August 29, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
(lunch break from approximately noon to 2:00 pm)

In the session on Faijin (explosive issuance of jin) practice, you will gain the practical insight of jin in its duality of gang (hard) and the rou (soft). Your fajin can tell how substantial or lacking the “inner qualities” of your practice are. You will see why Chen Xiaowang's signature fajin never fails to mesmerize. Seeing Grandmaster Chen in action will set the standard of practice.

The Saturday and Sunday workshops will be at:
Bretton Woods Clubhouse, 15700 River Road, Germantown, MD, 20874.

Its soft and gentle movements are designed to enable a free flow of qi to all parts of the body helping to stretch and loosen joints while energising your body and mind and increasing your internal strength.
